My mother purchased this book for me years ago. As the cover suggests, it is a book about one of the most intimate issues in marriage – sex – written in a comfortable and conversational way. Most Christian women (and women in general, for that matter) come into marriage with baggage, confusion, and completely skewed ideas about sex. We think silly things like sex is just for him, or we aren’t supposed to really get into it, or it’s just about physical pleasure so it’s not really that important. These beliefs and so many others that we tend to carry around can do a huge amount of damage to our relationships.
Intimate Issues gently unpacks the topic of sex to show us that it is a beautiful gift to be savored and shows us how to keep (or bring back) the sizzle in our marriages. Founded in scripture and the wisdom of Godly women with amazing relationships (and sex lives), this book is an excellent read for any woman who wants to either bring the spark back to a chilled marriage or keep the flame burning hot for a lifetime.
Yep, another book about sex in marriage! If you didn’t gather, I think it is an important topic that is all too often ignored or misunderstood and is a key issue that undermines many marriages. Sex can be a source of conflict and pain or a wonderful source of deep connection, comfort, and pleasure. And with just a little bit of attention and effort, most married couples can have the latter.
Red Hot Monogamy is written by a husband and wife team and is founded on Christian principles. Like the book Intimate Issues, it reveals the beauty of a God-centered sex life. What is different about Red Hot Monogamy is that it is written for couples (not just for wives), and it reads more like a book of ideas and instruction on how to turn up the sizzle.
This book is a classic for a reason! It is one of the first relationship books I ever read. Not only will it help you understand your husband (and all men) better, but it will help you understand yourself (and other women) better as well. Because let’s face it – none of us really make sense!
While not a Christian based book, it is a great resource for deepening your understanding of how to navigate the often tricky landscape of relationships with the opposite sex.
But sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. What’s more, a lack of time, emotionally driven approaches, and past frustrations can erode our resolve to keep growing in our knowledge of Scripture. How can we, as Christian women, keep our focus and sustain our passion when reading the Bible?
Offering a clear and concise plan to help women go deeper in their study of Scripture, this book will equip you to engage God’s Word in a way that trains your mind and transforms your heart.”
French Women Don’t Get Fat is not a diet book – at least in my opinion. Yes, it does contain wonderful, realistic advice on how to reach your ideal weight, but it is so much more than that. What it is is a book about learning to eat with pleasure in a way that satisfies the body, mind, and soul.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a more luscious, delicious, and healthy relationship with food and with their bodies.
Bonus – if you are an audio book listener, the audio version is delightful. The narrator has a wonderful voice and it is a pleasure to hear the lovely French phrases sprinkled throughout the book.
I like this book so much I’ve actually given it as a gift! It is a lighthearted, sometimes tear-filled, sometimes laugh out loud memoir about one woman’s journey to becoming a runner.
For me, running is one of the great joys of life. I love it! From the freedom of movement to the peaceful solitude, to the amazing places I can visit on my own two feet, running is a magical experience. But it is not always an easy experience. It can be painful and disheartening, and often takes a huge amount of willpower. So inspiration to get out there and hit the trails is always welcome. Running Like A Girl is just that.
For new runners, this book will give you a good idea of what to expect as you begin your running journey. For seasoned runners, you will find many relatable moments and maybe even a few insights to help you enjoy your running more. And everyone will find more than a little inspiration to lace up those shoes and head out the door.
FYI – you should note that Running Like A Girl is not a technical, how-to-run book. There are some great bits of running advice, but if you are looking for specific training information, running plans, or techniques – this is not the book.
Life can get pretty hectic – from managing our homes to working our businesses or jobs to social commitments to attending to our own well being. If we are not careful, we can get overwhelmed and lose sight of the really important things in our lives.
Unlike many productivity books, The Productivity Project is not about how to stuff ever more things into our days. It is about how to mindfully focus on the things that matter. It is filled with down to earth, practical, implement-today advice to help readers achieve more of what they want to achieve and not get distracted by the things that don’t really matter.
It’s a well-structured, light-hearted book that is not only very useful but is enjoyable to read.
